A classic ABC game show (The Mole) is being rebooted by Netflix

The new version of the ABC show is expected to be released sometime this fall; and it is said that it will resemble the Belgian television series De Mol, developed by Bart De Pauw, Michel Vanhove, Michiel Devlieger, and Tom Lenaerts in the late 1990s, which inspired its American counterpart.

The Mole

In Netflix’s reboot, the classic ABC game show will be reimagined as a “reimagined version,” which ran between 2001 and 2009. In its first season, the streamer has ordered 10 episodes of the series. There will be a total of 12 contestants competing in the revival. Each challenge will add money to a pot that can only be won by one of them.

A team member has been secretly designated “the Mole,” and they are responsible for sabotaging the group’s efforts to make money throughout the competitions. One player will outlast the rest and expose the Mole to win the prize pot.

The Mole

According to IMDB, the first two seasons of The Mole were hosted by Anderson Cooper, and the contestants were ordinary individuals. Nevertheless, seasons 3 and 4 featured celebrities and Emmy award-winning sportscaster Ahmad Rashād as host. Jon Kelley hosted the fifth and final season of the show, which reverted to featuring non-famous individuals.

It was not immediately clear whether Netflix intended to cast celebrities or civilians. It has not yet been revealed when the show will premiere or who will host it.
