Howard Stern bet that Sarah Michelle Gellar’s marriage to Freddie Prinze Jr. wouldn’t last.

In 2002, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. tied the knot, and on Thursday, the longtime pair celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary. While working on the movie “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” Gellar and Prinze Jr. got to know one another in 1997, although they didn’t start dating until the year 2000. Charlotte, 12, and Rocky, 9, are the couple’s only children.

Despite having acted together in “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and other previous productions, the couple had no plans to do so in the future. But destiny wanted something completely different. They got married on Sept. 1, 2002. Gellar, 45, celebrated their 20th Anniversary with a photo from the wedding reception on Instagram. She also posted old photos of 46-year-old Prinze Jr. discussing their forthcoming wedding with Howard Stern in 2001. Stern stated that the union was “not going to work for you,” and then continued, “I want to make a written wager with you. You’re going to find me and say, “Howard, I owe you money,” in about ten years.”

So when they recently celebrated their 20th anniversary Sarah Michelle Gellar called out Howard Stern for betting that her marriage to Freddie Prinze Jr. wouldn’t last even 10 years. Gellar mocked Stern’s incorrect forecast by posting screenshots from the interview on her Instagram Stories.
