After two days on Netflix, the Uncharted movie has climbed to the top of the streaming service’s charts. This is an impressive achievement, given that it faces strong competition from films such as The Gray Man and Purple Hearts.
While the movie has already enjoyed tremendous success in the cinema, no sequel has been announced, despite Sony describing it as a “new hit movie franchise.”
This is the first time Uncharted has appeared on Netflix, and it is receiving a massive resurgence. The release of Uncharted starring Tom Holland as Nathan Drake, took place at the beginning of this year.
Due to its mixed reviews, that film was not quite successful commercially, although it did benefit from the fact that it followed the success of England’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
It has been a long time since the film was conceived. Mark Wahlberg and Nathan Drake appeared in the early 2010s after Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was released on PlayStation 3.
At various points in time, multiple directors and writers were involved in the project, ultimately resulting in Wahlberg stepping away from the role and becoming Sully instead. It is not that late, and the public has been digging into this issue over the past few weeks.
Despite the delay in Netflix’s release, Uncharted has now been released and is currently ranked number one on the streaming service. As soon as the film was viewed on Netflix for a second time, it became the top single on the service.
I find this to be an extremely impressive achievement because not only are the other two moviegoers on the service available, but even when it gets late, it is possible to see movies and movie stars, such as The Grayman.
As of now, it is unknown how long Uncharted will be available on Netflix, but it seems like a new film is about to be released. The movie is unlikely to succeed on the streaming service since it has star power, is based on a popular video game franchise, and is a popcorn film.
Although Sony has not yet confirmed a sequel to the film, one is certainly in the works after the movie. According to recent studies, Sony considers Uncharted to be a “franchise,” suggesting that there will be more films in the series. Tom Holland has not refunded his Spider-Man contract, which means he can do a sequel to Uncharted sooner rather than later if Sony prioritizes it.
